Hello there! I hope you had a wonderful June and are finding ways to escape the heat. It’s been 90 to 100 degrees consistently here in Northern California. Insert the burning up face emoji. Hopefully, it’s not that warm where you are or that you are escaping on vacation! I am getting ready to move with my mom, so we are busy packing boxes still and working on ironing out the details this next month. For my favorite finds, since summer officially starts in June, all of them are very summer-related. Enjoy!
1. H&M Heeled Sandals –
I am so impressed with some of H&M’s heels. I admittedly haven’t had an occasion to test drive them all night, but they feel very comfortable. They have different heel heights and trendy options. These twisted black ones caught my eye, but they have plenty of other cute options. Most are under $35!
2. SuperGoop GlowScreen Body –
In the summer, this SPF 40 lotion is something I use daily. It is a whipped, airy body lotion that adds a warm, subtle shimmer. It’s also fast-absorbing and water- and sweat-resistant, making it ideal for daily use. I mix it with the Supergoop Body Butter, which also protects from the sun, but makes it a little less glowy.
3. Hendrick’s Blackberry Collins Cocktail –
This Blackberry Collins recipe was the best way to use the last of our homegrown blackberries. I love a gin cocktail and the new Hendrick’s Lunar gin was delicious in this recipe. This recipe is a great combination of sweet and tart. It’s sure to be a crowd pleaser at any summer event!
4. Tula Gel sunscreen –
Another SPF go-to in my skincare routine in all seasons, but especially summer. I love the non-greasy gel texture and its’ subtle glow. The formula is SPF 30 and also has protection from the damaging effects of pollution and blue light. I like to mix it with a couple of drops of Drunk Elephant’s D-Bronzi Sunshine drops. This gives me a little extra glow and tan. Bonus, it’s safe for the ocean!
5. Flowy Midi Dress –
This is one of the most perfect summer dresses. Not only is it under $30, but it also comes in 5 colors and is a lightweight, comfortable fabric. The top has a sweet ruffle detail and adjustable spaghetti straps. Would be cute with basic all-white sneakers or dressed up with heels and layers of gold necklaces.
6. Sparkler Number Candles –
The perfect cake toppers! These sparkling candles were so much fun on my birthday and might be my favorite of June’s favorite finds! They come in all numbers, stars, hearts, letters, and more. They would also be easy to mail in a card to someone far away as a fun gift. Note, the candles do take a bit light, but after a few matches, they took off!
7. Health-ade Kombucha Watermelon –
Sweet and juicy, this is the perfect summertime thirst quencher. The watermelon flavor is so good! Kombucha helps you maintain a healthy gut. A healthy gut is important because it contributes to decreased inflammation, stronger immunity, smooth digestion, balanced energy levels, less stress, healthy skin and nails, and improved mood. If I can get help with all that through a delicious drink that also helps keep me full, I’m here for it!
8. Soft T-Shirt Dress –
Comfy, soft fabric and easy to throw on; this dress checks all on the favorite finds boxes. This dress is a pretty, almost acid wash, bright blue, but the style comes in at least 5 other colors. Dress it down with white sneakers or up with a studded heeled sandal.
9. cream blush –
In the summer heat, especially, I feel like cream or liquid makeup is the way to go. They just seem to stay and look better as the day goes on. These are both buildable and easy to blend. They also go along with your sweaty, I mean dewy, summer look. The Ilia Multi-Stick and Glossier Cloud Paint are two of my favorite creamy blushes. They each come in 8 colors too.
10. Trader Joe’s Items –
I tried a few new things in June and these are all so great for summer!
Okay, so these aren’t new, but new to me. The Jerk-Style Plantain Chips are a new favorite of mine. I love them specifically for summer to go with salsa and guacamole. They also make the perfect crunchy, spicy topping, for your taco salad. I just break them up a bit and toss them on.
This item is new and is the perfect BBQ addition, the Patio Potato Chips. A bag with four different types of chips – Sea Salt & Vinegar, Delicious Dill, Homestyle Ketchup, and Smokin’ Sweet BBQ. The combination might seem questionable, but I loved these and they were gone in days in my house.
My last item is the Tangy Turtles. The turtles are tart and sweet and perfect for a road trip, picnic or anytime really. The flavors are lemon, black currant, apple, blueberry, cherry, and passion-peach. These take me back to my childhood of eating peach rings and were something fun to try.
Honorable mention for new TJ’s items; the Black Truffle Ketchup. I bought it, but I am patiently waiting until I move next month to dive into it. But, if you are a truffle lover like me, you might want to snag one now if you can. It’s gotta be great, right?
